About Saxworx
Who's Lee?
Lee Kramka hails from the legendary town of Woodstock, Illinois. (No, not the one with the rock concert, the one featured in the movie "Groundhog Day".)
Lee is the premiere saxophone specialist in the San Francisco Bay Area. He learned his craft under the tutelage of Julius Weissinger in Champaign, Illinois, and then he honed his skills working for twenty years at Erwin Burger's Woodwind & Brass Workshop in San Francisco.
Following Erwin's death in 1996, Lee opened Lee's Sax Worx as a one-man shop on 17th Avenue in the Sunset. In 2002 he was joined by Don Millhauser, who served as Lee's apprentice and then chief technician until his retirement in 2024.
In 2003 Sax Worx moved to Taraval Street, where you'll find it today. In 2012 James Miyashiro joined the staff as Lee's apprentice, and since Don's retirement he serves as chief technician. Alex Edison joined Lee's Sax Worx in 2020, and he's working to fill the gap from Don's departure.
Saxworx offers exceptional repair and restoration of saxophones and clarinets.

testimonials
Just wanted to let folks know Lee did a superb refurbish job on my 1927 Conn. He came highly recommended from my excellent teacher, Jeff Sanford, and in one of the newsgroups he was listed as the BEST west of the Mississippi!

Well, I played two gigs this weekend with my VI tenor, and man it plays and SOUNDS better than it ever has in the 23 years I've owned it. You did a great job with the "minor" overhaul on this horn and I can't thank you enough! sax -- it's still playing great.

Lee has repaired all my saxes (soprano, alto, tenor) – all Selmer Mark VI… Back in '88 or '89 he overhauled my tenor and rebuilt some of the rods – it’s from the mid 50's and hasn't seen much rest. My point, I'm still playing on the same overhaul, I've never had work last this long! I hope you, Lee, are around for many, many more years, I don't know what I'd do without you, maybe quit playing, or something!
